Monday, January 30, 2012 secret post about QR code project

Yes, we love the office cats who get to lay around and sleep all day-but they are letting this idea out of the bag!  We have been working with a great group of teachers in our TECH TALKS sessions on a QR code project.  We are generating QR codes to extend the ideas in childrens literature.

As an example, we have several codes for the book Monarch Butterfly by Gail Gibbons.  We've chosen a few pages to extend the ideas in the book using videos, images, and websites.  So, as students are reading, they scan the code and get more info!  Just a fun way to extend literature and embed technology.

So, help us out--what are a few of your favorite math/science titles (or others) that we can help find codes for?  And be sure to follow our TpT Store--we plan to post this lesson soon!

Pinning-it's not just for sewing anymore!

So, it didn't take us long to see just how quickly a pin can spread.  We pinned the link to our MVP in Math (Most Valuable Practices) lesson and within an hour it had been repinned 200 times!  That's a powerful way to share information!  So, here is to sharing...and our link to follow TLC's board where we will post our math/science lessons.

Additionally, I have to say that I am joining the blog-o-sphere thanks to the great teachers on Teachers pay Teachers (TpT)!  So many of them have had success in sharing great ideas and having more conversations on the blog.  For those of you who don't know about TpT-it's an amazing marketplace where teachers are posting lessons, activities, and resources for others.  Some (many) are free downloads, and some are for purchase.  Did I mention that their top seller is about to gross $500,000?  And many sellers this year are hitting the $20,000 mark! Kudos to them--TLC is using this site to post math/science lessons-and hoping to generate funds that can go back to teachers in PD sessions.
Check it out here...and look for the red star to FOLLOW our store and get an occasional update about new lessons!
